How Scoring Really Works

Most guides stay vague about points. Here is exactly how our scoring works, so you can plan moves with real numbers instead of guesswork.

For example, place a four-cell L piece and clear two lines on the third move of a combo: 40 base + 2 × (100 + 50 × 3) = 540 points from a single move. The same two lines cleared cold would be 340. That gap is why protecting your streak matters more than any single placement.

Why the Board Feels Fair

Two things keep the game honest.

In endless mode a difficulty engine reads the board every round — how crowded it is, how fragmented the gaps are, how many pieces still fit — and combines that with your recent play to pick the next three blocks. When you are in danger it leans toward more solvable sets; when you are cruising it raises the challenge. You still have to make the right move, but you are rarely handed an unwinnable one.

In the Daily Challenge the opposite rule applies: one fixed seed, generated once per day and shared by every player on the planet. Same blocks, same order, pure skill — which is what makes the leaderboard comparable.

A 3-Step Practice Routine That Works

  1. Read all three blocks before you touch the board. Place the hardest shape first while space is available, then use the easy ones to finish a line.
  2. Hold a 3×3 pocket open. The giant square is the piece that ends runs; keeping one pocket empty removes the worst-case scenario.
  3. Build one "one-away" line and keep it. A row or column with a single gap is a guaranteed clear next round — the simplest way to keep a combo alive.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I rotate blocks in Block Blast?

No. Every piece must be placed exactly as it appears. That restriction is the core challenge — it forces you to plan the whole board around the shapes you are given.

How do I play?

Open this page on any device and the game is ready instantly. Pick one of the three blocks at the bottom, then tap or click the grid to place it. Fill a full row or column to clear it.

Can I play offline?

The browser version needs a connection the first time you load it. You can add it to your home screen so it launches like an app, but for full offline play use the official mobile app.
